Message from the Head of Sustainability

We are facing an era of VUCA with a high degree of uncertainty on a global scale, including global environmental issues such as climate change, the emergence of poverty, economic disparity, and human rights issues, as well as the spread of new coronavirus infections, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the associated risks to global supply chains.

Under these circumstances, sustainability management initiatives have become even more important.

In its management philosophy, Origin Corporation states that it aims to be a company that creates new value and contributes to society with a strong presence that is useful to human society, and to be an "open company," a "unique company," and a "company that is a place for self-realization.
Its uniqueness also includes "honing its one-of-a-kind technology," making technology the cornerstone of its management.

In 2022, in order to accelerate its efforts to realize a sustainable society, Origin Corporation established a Sustainability Committee and decided on a Sustainability Policy and a mid-term reduction target to reduce its own CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 from the 2015 emissions level in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

Specifically, based on our Sustainability Policy, we have identified five materialities "resolution of social issues and sustainable growth of Origin," "strengthening governance," "promotion of human rights awareness and human resource development," "product safety and quality," and "environmental protection (addressing climate change issues and reducing CO2 emissions). emissions reduction, and have initiated initiatives to address these issues. In addition, we have begun Scope 3 calculations to reduce CO2 emissions. We would like to cooperate with our procurement partners to promote fair business activities and CO2 emissions reduction throughout the supply chain.

In order to sustainably increase our corporate value, we, the Origin Group, will develop our business by utilizing our management resources, centering on technology, which is our strength, in accordance with our management philosophy and sustainability policy, while keeping abreast of various trends in the social environment. Under the "Transformation" and "Growth" policies of our mid-term management plan, which aims to become a "Niche Top" company, we will explore new technologies and create new businesses to provide our customers with peace of mind and comfort, and also contribute to solving social issues.
